Originality.ai still rated the same text 78% AI. It's a solid option for lowering scores on lenient detectors, but not a safe bet where Originality.ai or Turnitin is used. What is StealthWriter?
StealthWriter is a browser-based humanizer meant to take AI-written content, give it a more natural tone and get it past AI detection. Rather than acting as a simple synonym changer, it tries to rearrange sentence structure, word choice and rhythm, which is closer to what a humanizer ought to do. It also includes a built-in check, so you can see right away whether the output still reads as AI.
It's popular with students, freelancers and SEO writers who want a quick rewrite of AI drafts. Its current models are called Ghost 5.2 Mini, Ghost 5.2 Pro and Ghost Legacy, with Mini as the default on every plan.
Our test results
The HumanizerPRO team tested StealthWriter in April 2025. We generated text with GPT-4, rewrote it with StealthWriter, and checked the before and after versions on three detectors, including StealthWriter's own.
StealthWriter's built-in detector
The built-in checker moved from 100% AI to 25% after the rewrite. That's an encouraging result, but a tool's own detector has an obvious incentive to score its output kindly, so we don't put much stock in that figure on its own.
GPTZero
GPTZero had flagged the original as entirely AI-generated. After StealthWriter's rewrite, only 9% to 12% of the text was flagged. Frankly, that's an impressive result: not every budget humanizer we've tested did this well, and BypassGPT and Rewritify, for instance, barely moved GPTZero at all.
Originality.ai
Originality.ai is one of the most stringent detectors you'll come across, and it proved it here. The original text scored 99.9% AI, and the rewrite still showed 78%. We take a closer look at just how strict Originality.ai is in our Originality.ai review.
What this means
StealthWriter certainly makes AI scores drop, and it's especially effective on GPTZero. But the difference between detectors is significant. If your school, client or platform uses Originality.ai or Turnitin, a 10% GPTZero score won't tell you much. Test with the detector that will actually be used, or run the text through an independent AI detector alongside it.

The free plan is surprisingly substantial for light daily use: 10 rewrites a day of up to 1,000 words each is more than enough to humanize a short essay. Paid pricing starts high compared with other humanizers, so it really only makes sense for heavy use.
How to lower AI detection the right way
Whichever humanizer you use, the same few habits make the biggest difference:
- Don't submit raw AI text. Detectors like Turnitin and Originality.ai are trained on exactly that kind of uniform, predictable writing.
- Use a real humanizer, not a synonym swapper. It needs to change sentence structure and rhythm, not just words.
- Add your own voice. Personal examples, specific details and your actual opinion are the parts no model can produce, and they read as human to people and detectors alike.
- Check before you submit. Run the final text through an AI detector and a plagiarism checker.
